This is the second time I have tried to download Google Play which I thought was where I get apps for my HP. Instead, I get PC App Store TM which I cannot "X" out of. It stays on my screen. I can go into the Start Menu and find the link to my apps, but when I right click on it and click on DELETE APP it doesn't delete.

    Hi Laurie Lotus Miller,

I can see the previous suggested steps from the Q&A Assist already covered how to uninstall the app through Settings, Start menu and Control Panel.

If PC App Store TM is still stuck on your screen or won’t uninstall, it may still be running in the background. In that case, please press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, look for anything named “PC App Store,” and select End task. Once it’s fully closed, try uninstalling it again from Settings (Windows logo + I keys) > Apps > Installed apps. If the uninstall still doesn’t go through, restart your PC and try again right after signing in, as a reboot can clear anything that was blocking the process.

If the issue continues, you can try removing it in Safe Mode with Networking, which prevents most background processes from interfering. To do this, go to Settings > System > Recovery, then under Advanced startup select Restart now. After your PC restarts, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press 5 or F5 (Enable Safe Mode with Networking). Once your PC loads into Safe Mode, open Settings > Apps or Control Panel and uninstall the app from there.

After you’re able to remove it, I recommend running a full scan using Windows Security to ensure there are no leftover files or related components. Just as a quick note, Google Play is not used on Windows PCs, it is designed for some supported Android and Chromebook devices, so on your HP computer it’s best to install apps only from the Microsoft Store or official websites to help avoid similar issues in the future.

If the app still appears after these steps, please let me know what you’re seeing and I’ll be happy to guide you further.

PC App Store TM is not part of Windows or Microsoft Store; it is a third‑party program. To remove it from a Windows PC, uninstall it like any other app or program.

    Try these methods (Windows 10/11):

    1. Uninstall from Settings
      1. Select Start > Settings > Apps.
      2. In Apps & features / Installed apps, scroll through the list and look for entries such as PC App Store, PC App Store TM, or anything similar.
      3. Select it, choose More (three dots) > Uninstall, and follow the prompts.
    2. Uninstall from Start menu
      1. Select Start > All apps.
      2. Find PC App Store in the list.
      3. Right‑click it and select Uninstall (if available), then follow the prompts.
    3. Uninstall from Control Panel (if it doesn’t appear in Settings)
      1. In search on the taskbar, type Control Panel and open it.
      2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
      3. Look for PC App Store or similar in the list.
      4. Right‑click it and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change, then complete the wizard.

If the app window is stuck on screen even after uninstall, restart the PC. If it still appears, repeat the uninstall steps and verify there are no remaining entries related to that app.

To get Android apps on Windows from Microsoft, use only the Microsoft Store and, where supported, the Amazon Appstore and Windows Subsystem for Android. To remove any mobile apps or the Amazon Appstore itself, use Settings > Apps > Apps & features and uninstall the specific mobile app or Windows Subsystem for Android™ as described in the references.
