The “press and hold” (Let’s prove you’re human) captcha can fail repeatedly if something in the browser prevents it from running correctly.
To fix the “Try again” loop when creating a new Microsoft personal account:
- Temporarily disable ad blockers or content blockers
- The press-and-hold captcha can be blocked by ad‑blocking or privacy extensions.
- Turn off any ad blocker/content blocker in the browser and reload the signup page.
- Then try the “Hold down the button” captcha again.
- Use a clean/private browser session
- Open a Private/Incognito window in the browser.
- Go to the Microsoft account sign-up page (for example via https://signup.live.com or the Create an account option on a Microsoft sign-in page) and try again.
- Try a different browser or device
- If the captcha still fails, switch to another browser (e.g., from Chrome to Edge) or another device and repeat the creation steps.
- Complete the rest of the account creation steps
- After passing the captcha, continue with:
- Entering the email address or choosing a new Outlook.com address.
- Creating a strong password.
- Entering name, country/region, birthdate.
- Verifying the email with the code sent.
- After passing the captcha, continue with:
If the captcha succeeds once, the account creation should complete as long as all required fields and verification steps are finished.
