Azure Dev Tools for Teaching - PLAN ADMINISTRATOR

I'm having difficulties renewing our Azure Dev Tools for Teaching institutional subscription again this year.

I’ve received the attached renewal email, however when I select Renew, I’m redirected through a series of pages and instructions, none of which provide a clear route to actually renew the organisation’s subscription. The online guidance appears to send me in circles rather than to a renewal portal.

Last year, the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching team was very helpful in guiding me through the process. I’d be grateful if someone from the same team, or the Azure for Education support team, could assist again this year.

This relates specifically to an institutional education subscription, not a standard Azure or Visual Studio subscription.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
Alex

    Microsoft have advised:

    • The ADT4T plan has been retired, and the management console is no longer accessible.
    • Only previously activated plans will remain active till expiration date then it cannot be used.

Here's the link for ADT4T updates What is Azure Dev Tools for Teaching? | Microsoft Learn

Microsoft has not yet published any official announcement regarding the replacement of ADT4T, however we have been always interested in innovation in the educational sector, therefore we’ve been innovating and evolving in the Azure for Students subscriptions (ASO) gives the eligible students a $100 as credit to access Azure Virtual machines plus the software benefits.

Which means every student with academic email addresses that has this domain would be eligible to enroll with Azure for Students as long as they didn’t enroll with any other offer.

To ensure a smooth experience, please follow these steps:

    • Use Microsoft Edge in InPrivate mode (incognito).
    • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies before starting.
    • Make sure to disable any VPN services.

Then enroll with Azure for Students, you may visit: https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1

I think the loop just means ur tenant never received the ADT4T renewal‑entry, so the portal has nothing to render; just try the original plan‑admin once, and if “Renew” still won’t surface, send tenant ID thru Education Hub → Support and they’ll republish it for u.

    Hello @Morgan, Alex

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A platform.

For Azure Dev Tools for Teaching (ADT4T) institutional subscriptions, the renewal process is handled through a dedicated management portal, not through the Azure portal. This is why the “Renew” link in the email can sometimes lead to confusing or circular navigation.

Please use the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching management portal directly:

    https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/Order

    Then follow:

    • Select “Renew an existing plan”
    • Search for your institution and subscription
    • Verify administrator and plan details
    • Click “Confirm and Place Order”

This is the official documented renewal flow: Enroll or renew an Azure Dev Tools for Teaching subscription

    • ADT4T subscriptions do not renew automatically and must be renewed manually.

    Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/education-hub/azure-dev-tools-teaching/enroll-renew-subscription

    • Renewal is available up to 90 days before expiry and reminders are sent in advance.

If you are redirected in loops / cannot see renewal option, In cases where the renewal link does not lead to a usable page (as you described), the next supported step is to contact the Azure for Education support team, as they manage institutional subscriptions.

    Support page: https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/institutions/Contact

    • Renewal must be completed via the ADT4T management portal only
    • Email links may not always work reliably
    • If the portal flow is unclear or looping, Azure for Education support needs to assist further.

    Thanks,
    Suchitra.
