Lost Access to Original Fortnite Account Linked to Xbox Gamertag [PII Removed]

Hello Microsoft Support,

I am having trouble accessing my original Fortnite account that is linked to my Xbox account.

My Xbox Gamertag is [PII Removed]

I recently tried to play Fortnite on cloud gaming on my iPad. During the sign-in process, I accidentally selected “Skip” on a sync/data prompt. After that, when I signed in with my Xbox account, I was asked to finish setting up an Epic Games account. This created a new empty Epic account using the same email address, but none of my original Fortnite progress, skins, or purchases were there.

I started playing Fortnite in Chapter 1 Season 2 and have purchased many V-Bucks over the years. My original account contains all of my progress and purchases.

I would like to know if Microsoft can help confirm which Epic Games account is linked to my Xbox account and provide any assistance in restoring access to my original Fortnite account.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

[PII Removed] Xbox Gamertag: [PII Removed]

    Hi Ryan Aguilar

What likely happened is that selecting “Skip” created a new empty Epic account and linked it to your Xbox profile, instead of using your original one.

    1. Sign into the new/empty Epic account → go to Account > Connections > Accounts → Disconnect Xbox
    2. Sign out
    3. Sign back in at Epic using:
      • Your original Epic email/password or
      • “Sign in with Xbox Live” (try this first)
    4. Once in your original account → reconnect your Xbox

If you can’t find the original account, contact Epic Support: https://www.epicgames.com/help, since this is a public forum, no one here can access and review your account, entitlements status; and it's not a subject that is related to Microsoft in this case.

Hope you'll get this sorted out!
