Is there any way to have Planner/Loop tasks display in the Outlook ToDo pane?

I've seen multiple threads since 2023 asking for this feature to be implemented and haven't seen any solutions. Planner tasks currently appear in the ToDo app but not in the Outlook ToDo pane, making timeboxing and day planning fragmented. Has anyone developed any sustainable workarounds? I tried using Power Automate to make a ToDo task for every Planner task assigned to me but barely runs half the time.

    Hi @Stewart, Chad

I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for sharing your experience in such detail and I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain the impact on your day planning.

From my research, at this time there isn’t a supported way to have Planner “Assigned to me” tasks consistently appear in Outlook’s To Do side pane/My Day pane for drag‑and‑drop scheduling.

This behavior has been raised by other users as well in multiple community threads over recent years, describing the same gap between Microsoft To Do and the Outlook side pane experience.

In the meantime, given your experience that the flow “barely runs half the time,” your concern is valid flows that try to “mirror” Planner tasks into separate To Do tasks can be sensitive to connector timing, throttling, and update behavior.

If you’d like to pursue a more robust automation design, I’d recommend posting your scenario in the Microsoft Power Automate Community. The reason I suggest posting a new topic there is that in the general Q&A Forum, resources and expertise on Power Automate are limited. In the Microsoft Power Platform Community Forum, you’ll find the most qualified group of respondents, and other partners who regularly read the forums can share their knowledge or learn from your interaction.

I totally agree with your assessment, having Planner/Loop tasks in the same Outlook To Do pane where you timebox would be highly beneficial. It would reduce context switching, prevent missed commitments, and create a more cohesive daily workflow.

However, I strongly recommend submitting your feedback through the Ideas · Community. This is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered for future improvements.    User's image Once you've submitted your feedback, feel free to share the link here in the comments. I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern.

Planner tasks can be surfaced in Microsoft To Do, but the context does not describe any supported way to have Planner or Loop tasks appear directly in the Outlook To Do pane.

The documented and supported path is:

    1. Turn on the Planner integration in Microsoft To Do so all Planner tasks assigned are visible in To Do.
    2. Use To Do itself (or To Do within Outlook on the web) as the central place to manage and timebox tasks.

To enable Planner tasks in To Do:

    1. Open Microsoft To Do and go to Settings.
    2. In Smart lists, turn Assigned to me to On.
    3. Under Connected apps, set Planner to On.
    4. Planner tasks assigned will then appear in the Assigned to me list, where they can be renamed, have checklists and due dates edited, and be added to My Day.

Loop task lists sync with Planner so that tasks can be managed from Planner and any app that surfaces Planner tasks, but the context does not provide a method to push those tasks into the Outlook To Do pane beyond the existing To Do integration.

Given the available information, there is no documented sustainable workaround beyond using Microsoft To Do (and its Planner integration) as the primary task hub instead of the Outlook To Do pane.
