I'm trying to install my Microsoft Office 2024 Pro Plus from the download link provided by the Microsoft website, and the laptop is installing Microsoft Office 2021 Pro and Microsoft Office 365. I've got a license for Microsoft Office 2024 Pro Plus.

Please provide instructions regarding these issues. Thank you.

Office Professional Plus and “Pro Plus” editions are volume license products intended for organizations, not for individual (home) use. When a “Microsoft Office 2024 Pro Plus” key or installer is obtained from a non‑Microsoft source, it is typically a volume license build and often not a genuine consumer product. This frequently leads to:

    • The installer actually deploying Office LTSC 2021 or another LTSC build, which then shows as “Office 2021” in apps like Outlook or Word.
    • Mismatched branding (e.g., the download or installer claims “2024” while the installed suite shows “2021”).

    From the provided context:

    • Office Professional Plus is explicitly described as a corporate product only, available via corporate contracts and not legally sold to home users.
    • Moderator guidance states that “Office Professional Plus 2024” / “Professional Plus” / “Standard” / similar “Plus” SKUs are volume licenses, and third‑party resellers offering them to individuals are violating Microsoft’s licensing terms.
    • Cases where users tried to redeem or download “Office 2024 Professional Plus” keys and ended up with Office 2021 or could not download at all were traced back to such non‑consumer, volume license keys.

Given this, the behavior described (installer showing Office 2021 or Microsoft 365 instead of a genuine “Office 2024 Pro Plus” retail product) is consistent with having purchased a non‑consumer, volume license product from a third party.

Recommended actions based on the context:

    1. Do not continue using the “Office 2024 Pro Plus” key or installer if it came from a third‑party seller or non‑Microsoft download location.
    2. Contact the seller and request a refund or dispute the purchase, as moderators note these licenses are not legitimate for individual resale.
    3. If a legitimate Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 retail product is needed, purchase a supported consumer SKU (for example, Microsoft 365 or Office Home & Business) directly through Microsoft or an authorized reseller, then:

If a valid consumer license is already owned (e.g., Microsoft 365 or Office Home & Business 2024), follow these supported steps to install on a PC:

    1. Go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and sign in with the Microsoft account or work/school account associated with the license.
    2. From the Microsoft 365 Apps page, select Install appsInstall.
    3. Run the downloaded installer and complete setup.
    4. Open an app such as Word, accept the license agreement, and let it activate.

If no install option appears after signing in, the context indicates there may be an account or license assignment issue; in that case, use the “Need help?” account‑question guidance or contact the Microsoft 365 administrator (for work/school accounts) or Microsoft support.

Office Pro Plus 2024 is a volume licence version of Office used by large organizations, it is not a consumer licence, where did you purchase that Office licence, was that from an online retailer?
