My original email address:

[Removed PII]******@hotmail.com]

However, my Microsoft account email has since been changed/migrated to:

[Removed PII]@outlook.sg]

Is there a way to change back to [Removed PII]@hotmail.com]?

Unfortunately, no.

Microsoft has stated and released a policy that if you change or delete an alias ending in @hotmail.com, it becomes permanent and cannot be reused or added back as your main email address.

I understand that this is not the outcome you were hoping for, especially since it affects an old and familiar email address. However, this restriction is in place to protect account security and prevent email addresses from being reused once they have been permanently removed.

what?!?! then there's no way for me to recover a game account if that hotmail is no longer exist?? this really suck....

I understand how frustrating that is, especially if the game account is still linked to the old @hotmail.com address.

Unfortunately, if the @hotmail.com alias was permanently removed from the Microsoft account, Microsoft does not allow it to be recreated or added back again. That part is final according to their alias policy.

Regarding your game account, if you only changed the alias and did not fully close the Microsoft account itself, there may still be a chance that the game account is connected to the same Microsoft account in the background, only with a different sign in email now.

Try reaching out to Microsoft Support directly to see if there are any other options to recover the game you purchased on that account.

You can also try signing in to the game using the current Microsoft account email since some games automatically follow the updated alias.

Changing the Microsoft account’s primary alias from a Hotmail address to another address does not “migrate” or rename the original address; it changes which alias is primary. However, if the Hotmail address was removed as an alias, it is permanently deleted and cannot be restored or re‑used on any Microsoft account.

To check the current aliases and what can still be changed:

Go to the Manage how you sign in to your account page: https://account.live.com/names/manage.
Review the list of aliases:
- If the Hotmail address still appears, it can be set as the primary alias by selecting Make primary next to it.
- If the Hotmail address no longer appears (it was removed), it cannot be added back or reused. In that case, the Outlook.sg address (or another alias) must remain as the sign‑in email.

Microsoft’s alias policy explicitly states that removing an alias from a Microsoft domain such as @hotmail.com permanently deletes that alias and it cannot be associated with any Microsoft account again.
