
I think that it is just a difference of two counts. In general, it is not the number of cells between 32 and 85. To count the cells that are “>= 32 and <= 85”, try this: =COUNTIFS(B2:B5,">=32",B2:B5,"<=85")

I wonder the minus sign use here in COUNTIF is for the range function or use as minus function ? why use minus if want to just check value for B2:B5 range? Ref to pic attached below,
