Windows 11 file explorer jumps to the top of the page for no reason

When I am working on files in folders in Files Explorer (Windows 11) the screen jumps inexplicably to the top of the page after several seconds (the times varies, but it’s never more than 15 seconds or so). This makes it almost impossible to work on files as the screen is constantly shifting to the top of the page and I lose my place in the list of files in the folder. I have fiddled around with the various file folder options but nothing seems to work. I have had my present machine with Windows 11 for over a year now, but this problem started only a few days ago. I have automatic updates on so Windows is up to date.

Open This PC or any folder

click on the three dots in the toolbar and then click Options

Under the General tab of Folder Options, click the Restore Defaults button.

switch to the View tab > Restore Defaults button to reset File Explorer view settings to default.

click on the Search tab to see the search settings. Once again, click on the Restore Defaults button to restore search settings to default settings > Apply.

Some third-party software or drivers can interfere with the functioning of File Explorer. Try disabling or uninstalling any third-party software that affects your file management or modifies system behavior. So, go for a Clean Boot.

    1. Right-click on the problematic folder.
    2. Select Properties.
    3. Go to the Customize tab.
    4. Under Optimize this folder for, select General items.
    5. Click Apply and then OK.

This seemed to work for me

I had the same problem in a picture folder. I copy and pasted a new folder, put that folder into a different location (Folder) and deleted the original folder. Seem to have worked.

    Solution: Unlink your OneDrive Account

    Uninstall OneDrive Account.

Reason: OneDrive is continuously connecting in the internet (probably trying to index the folder) and that reason it keeps refreshing file explorer.

Microsoft probably did not find it annoying or no one really knows from the Microsoft
