You don't need a subscription to complete any exercises in the AZ-900 learning path.
In the task, first activate the sandbox and click the link provided in step 1. This will take you to the Azure portal, which is created using a temporary Learn sandbox subscription. From there, you can follow the remaining steps and complete the task.
