    Hello @이기태 이사,

Thank you for taking time to post your question in Microsoft Q&A forum.

First of all, different Visual Studio product keys activate different versions of Visual Studio. The product key for VS 2022 Professional cannot activate VS 2017 Professional.

If you only have a product key but don’t have a subscription license, it’s not possible to activate a previous/other version of VS.

Secondly, for subscription license, using an earlier version of Visual Studio is possible. You can download an Excel file to check which earlier versions of Visual Studio can be used for the specific subscription license(details: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/pricing-details/).

Thirdly, about your first and second question, please kindly contact Visual Studio Subscription Team(retail/sales) for double confirmation.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further concerns.

    Have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

    Tianyu

When purchasing Visual Studio 2022 Professional Perpetual, you may have the option to use downgrade rights to continue using Visual Studio 2017 Professional Perpetual. Downgrade rights typically allow you to use an earlier version of the software if you have a valid license for a newer version. However, it's important to check the specific licensing terms provided by Microsoft at the time of your purchase, as they can vary.

Here are some key points to consider:

    1. License Agreement: Review the license agreement that comes with Visual Studio 2022 Professional. It should specify whether downgrade rights are included.
    2. Compatibility: Ensure that your projects and solutions are compatible with Visual Studio 2017. Some features or tools available in Visual Studio 2022 may not be present or fully supported in Visual Studio 2017.
    3. Support and Updates: While using Visual Studio 2017 under downgrade rights, you may not receive the same level of support and updates as you would with the latest version.
    4. Contact Microsoft: If you're uncertain, consider reaching out to Microsoft support or your Microsoft representative for clarification on your downgrade rights and options.

In summary, while it is generally possible to use downgrade rights for earlier versions of Visual Studio, it's crucial to verify the specific licensing terms associated with your purchase of Visual Studio 20

    22 Professional.

If you are using a product key then it is not tied to your MS account so it won't show up in the Portal as it isn't part of your subscription, it is retail.

VS licenses are not backwards compatible, like say Server licenses are, as far as I know. If you have a VS2022 license then that is good for VS 2022, not previous VS versions. Of course if you're using VS 2022 then there really isn't a reason that you should be going back to VS 2017 anyway. If you were using VS 2017 before then you would still have that license as well anyway.
