Windows 11 Audio Issues (Communication & Other)

Since we upgraded to Windows 11 our audio issues have been terrible.

  • Application sounds do not play as they should (they were fine on Windows 10)
  • Logging into an application mutes the entire PC/Laptop.
  • We use communication software for our call center and setting the default device to the PC speakers and the default communication device to the headset no longer works. The audio will not work properly when set this way. We have to disable ALL devices (for speaker and mic) except the headset. It will work this way, but ALL sounds come straight into the headset which makes communication with people very difficult when you have PC/Application sounds in your ear when you are trying to listen to someone speak.

Microsoft needs to get it together and fix these bugs. Windows 11 has been out long enough where these issues should not be happening at this point. We, as an organization, pushed out Windows 11 because we were told support for Windows 10 was sunsetting, otherwise we would not have chosen to upgrade because it has been an absolute nightmare.

After searching Google and this forum regarding Windows 11 audio issues, you can CLEARLY see this is a Microsoft Windows 11 issue and we certainly are not the only ones. The answers on this forum are SO generic 9/10 of us that post on here already know the troubleshooting that the specialists respond to us. We need support BEYOND that. We need ALL of these specialists to contact Microsoft and voice the issues that they are unable to resolve - which is every single forum post regarding Windows 11 audio that I've seen over the last full year.

    Hello@Dustin M. Adams

It’s clear that this is a widespread problem affecting many users. You can try to check if there are any logs about audio issues in Event Viewer-System and Applications.
