Achieving USB Redirection for Scanners on Azure RDS

Hello everyone,

I've recently migrated one of our larger clients to an RDS server in Azure, and everything is running smoothly (files, VPN, remote access, etc.). However, I've hit a roadblock with redirecting desktop scanners (ScanSnap and Paninni check scanner). My research so far has been confusing and hasn't provided clear answers.

Has anyone successfully achieved full USB redirection for these types of devices via RDP USB passthrough? Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We achieved a partial success with those instructions https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/security-compliance-and-identity/introducing-microsoft-remotefx-usb-redirection-part-1/ba-p/247035?advanced=false&collapse_discussion=true&search_type=thread, primarily using dictation devices.

Another solution we considered was a USB to IP converter, which included a client running locally on the RDS machine. We experimented with a Belkin model, though it seems they are no longer available.

An alternative would be RDP USB passthrough from https://www.flexihub.com/ or https://www.digi.com/products/networking/infrastructure-management/usb-connectivity/usb-over-ip/anywhereusb . There are other suppliers, but these were the first options that appeared with a quick Google search.
