Microsoft Excel Send as email attachment opens old outlook

When I choose to send a file as an attachment in excel (or word for that matter), it opens up old Outlook, instead of Outlook (New)

I have tried to change the default app in settings but to no avail.

Any suggestions how to fix?

Hi @Phil Jones ,

Sorry for the inconvenience that happened to you.

According to my research, if you attempt to share an attachment from Word, Excel as an attachment /PDF, the new Outlook will not work as expect. This is the known issue and will be fixed in future.

Currently, the feature is in the "Rolling out" status for the New Outlook. This may not yet be available to all applicable customers.

I have marked as not resolved, as the problem still exists. Although the road map indicates it is a known problem, it hasn't been looked at for months, and the summary is not clear either. Is it in development, or rolling out?!

The latest status of the feature is that they stopped the roll out. There are no additional details on the solution or a new timeline.

We started having this issue as well and noticed that when the user is using New Outlook and chooses to share, the classic Outlook New Email window opens instead. For one of my users who reported this issue, we toggled back to Classic Outlook, tested then toggled back to New Outlook and the issue appears to be resolved.

i can confirm Dan's answer is valid. i had the same issue so i toggled back and forth between old and new Outlooks. now it is working fine with new Outlook. Thank you!
