I read about error code 0x80072efd is due to internet connection issue. Therefore, I took my laptop and went to another house where the internet speed is 100mps, unlike my house which is 1mps. The same error message still pops up and I can't proceed to update the software. Anyone having the same issue? Advice please? Is this error code due to internet connection??

Hi KB115, please try the following to resolve this issue:

Click your Start Button type services and hit Enter

For each of the following services, find them in the list of services, then double click them, if they are not already Started, start them and set their Startup type to Automatic

    Windows Update

    Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Cryptographic Service

    Close the Services App

Click your Start Button type cmd, then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Copy all the following commands and paste them into the command window in one go:

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

Wait for the all commands to complete.

    Close the Command Prompt

    Hello KB115

The first thing you will have to do is check if you have all the Windows updates installed. To do so, go to Windows 10 Configuration and once here access: Update and Security / Windows Update. This will be where you can check pending updates. In case you have any, proceed to install it and then check to see if the error has disappeared.

In case of continuing the error, you can also check if disabling the antivirus and the Windows firewall, the error is corrected.

I hope this can help you

    Hi,

The error code is not just limited to a connection issue. It can also point a connection issue due to damaged system files.

Upgrade to 1803 and see if it is resolved.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.
