IoT Hub Device Update: Support Question

Our company is quite interested in this. A couple questions though:

1) Is image update for Ubuntu supported, or is only Yocto supported for image updates?
2) Is something like 'delta rootfs updates' (https://hub.mender.io/t/robust-delta-update-rootfs/1144) supported as well for image updates? This would reduce bandwidth consumption for image updates.

Thank you!

@Jared Hagel Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum! Thanks for your interest in Azure IoT Hub Device update.

    1) Is image update for Ubuntu supported, or is only Yocto supported for image updates?

Image update is supported for all OS platforms across Linux as well as RTOS through Device Update for IoT Hub

    2) Is something like 'delta rootfs updates' (https://hub.mender.io/t/robust-delta-update-rootfs/1144) supported as well for image updates? This would reduce bandwidth consumption for image updates.

Delta or differential updates is on our roadmap and will be available in a future version of Device Update. Currently, there is no ETA on the availability. You can also take a look at Microsoft Connected Cache, an in-built on-network cache that is provided as an Edge module along with Device Update, and use it for bandwidth savings in the meanwhile.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any other queries.
