driver_overran_stack_buffer BSOD

I've been experiencing quite a few BSOD as of late, and cannot seem to pinpoint the issue. The computer will crash to the blue screen at seemingly random times. Sometimes it will crash while idle after 5 min of boot time, sometimes it crashes after 30-60 min of gaming.

The Latest BSOD I've been receiving can be seen below:

Here are my system specs:

  • Win 10 with all latest updates
  • Asus Prime X570-P
  • Ryzen 5900x
  • Nvidia 2070 Super
  • M.2 SSD
  • BIOS has been updated to latest versioning available
  • I'm not running any OCs on my RAM or CPU
  • 750W PSU

I think at this point I'm beginning to think it is caused by software, just need help pinpointing what might be causing it.

    These minidumps also do not mention third-party drivers as the cause of the crash.

    As the BSOD continues to occur even after updating the Chipset driver, I suggest you use the Driver Verifier utility. This utility is used to force the system to show the driver causing the problem.

    Before turning on Driver Verifier, I like to create a restore point just in case. I suggest doing the same.

    Turn on Driver Verifier, let the system crash 3 times, then turn off Driver Verifier. Send the minidumps that the crashes created.

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    See if your computer is creating minidump files.

    These files are in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

    Copy any files you have to your desktop and store them in a ZIP file. Then upload the ZIP file to the cloud (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc...), choose to share it, and get the link.

    Post the link to the ZIP file here so I can have a look.

    Good morning!

    Thank you for the suggestions, however I have already confirmed I'm not running DOCP/XMP and the DMP files I uploaded were captured while on the latest BIOS versioning for my motherboard

    The minidumps do not mention any driver as causing the crashes.

    I suggest doing the following:

    • Go to the motherboard BIOS and check if you have any XMP/DOCP profile configured. Disable it, leave it as default.
    • Go to the support area of the Asus website and search for the model of your motherboard. Then, download the latest chipset drivers and install them.

    Then, see if the system will work stable.
