How do you disable Windows auto setting app priority for apps in the background to low

When you tab out of an application, it's priority (viewed in task manager) is set to low, making the app useless, and better off closed, but this can have severe consequences on apps that run in the background, like Discord, which will be unusable due to spikes in memory usage causing it to have too little memory to run, thus making using the voice chat feature nearly impossible, I want to disable this function, permanently, and if it can't be, want help installing an app to override Windows, and disable this counterproductive feature.

I tried doing some online video tips, it did nothing, and looked at older posts, which also didn't work, I'm on Windows 10, latest update as of today, if this helps.

this is not effective, as windows 10 reverts the app back to low priority, which I need it not to, again, If I open the application, and minimize it, the app gets set to low priority, and overrides my set priority, meaning EVERY TIME I TAB OUT, I HAVE TO SET PRIORITY AGAIN, and that is my problem, I can't just change priority, since it keeps resetting every single time I set it, and its very irritating, and I want to disable/remove this buggy, and unrelyable feature.

    Hi, Gavin T. Davis

Thank you for your reply!   You can try again to set the app priority manually in the task manager:-Open Task Manager by pressing the key Ctrl + Shift + Esc.-In the "Processes" tab of Task Manager, find the program you want to assign a high priority to.-Right-click on the program and select the "Set Priority" option.-In the submenu, select the "High" option.-Now, the selected program will run with high priority, which can improve its performance.***Note that in order to maintain the stability of Windows 11, this setting will therefore revert to the default as the device restarts.***If even the above settings do not meet your requirements, the topic may be beyond the scope of Microsoft Community support, and you may need to use a third-party program to implement the CPU Task Prioritization program, unfortunately due to Microsoft Community rules restrictions, we cannot provide the exact name, you may need to search for it on your own.If you want to implement this feature directly on Windows 11, you can also post a question at Microsoft Learn, where experts can provide professional solutions. Here is a link to the forum where you can raise specific scenarios and share your idea to help solve the problem. Sincerely hope that your question will be dealt with appropriately after contact the correct department. Thank you for your understanding!

This is already enabled, and has had no effect, I really need help with this, and I am contemplating downloading a third party software to override this, since there is no fix it seems.

    Hi, Gavin T. Davis

    Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately, due to the optimization policy settings in Windows 10, it may not be possible to set a certain program to the highest priority alone. There is currently no separate option that can help you accomplish your idea.

As I said before, you can use some third-party software to achieve the function you want. If you want to implement the setting directly on Windows 10, this may be beyond our support scope, so you can go to Microsoft Learn to post the question (you can get the link through the Link in my last reply).

Microsoft attaches great importance to user experience, you can also submit your ideas and suggestions through the Feedback Hub, and the development team will regularly review submissions for ideas or fixes.

Please share the feedback link here after submitting as it will allow others on the forum to vote for your submission, including me. More votes will lead to more visibility and higher priority to the development team.

    Hi, Gavin T. Davis

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you want to disable Windows from automatically setting the app priority of background apps to low, there is no feature for this, you can try to set the program to highest priority in the performance settings, this method can help you to alleviate this problem.

    Specific method:

In Settings-System-About-Advanced system settings-Performance settings, just check Prgrams.

If you have any progress, please feel free to contact us.

    Best Regards
