    Hey Microsoft,

PLEASE can you let us all have the performance and stability we paid for when we bought our expensive computers desighned for processing huge amounts of data quickly.

PLEASE do not make this idiotic efficieny rubbish default - give us the options. Maybe per piece of software on install?

Three steps including delving into the registry to turn this off is not reasonable.

I've been regretting buying a huge expensive desktop for 18 months now (it was a big heavy brick for about 11 months) because it was unstable - part AMDs fault (Ryzen 7950X), part the ASUS motherboard (ProASrt X670), partly the Nvidia GPU (RTX 4090), and having got those sorted, finally, I find the the OS (Win11 Pro) is also throttling it. My 12 year old overclocked i7 2700K is way more reliable.

So, can you give us an easy way for us to disable this throttling please?

If my software worked on Apple hardware you'd have lost me, and a load of others. And I'm not a fan of Apple.

    I am running:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

    Version 10.0.22635 Build 22635

    I performed/verified the following:

    • Power Plan Settings:
      • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Power & battery'.
      • Under 'Power mode', make sure it's set to 'Best performance'.
    • Graphics Settings:
      • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Display' > 'Graphics'.
      • Browse for the AutoCAD Civil 3D executable or add it if it's not listed.
      • Once added, click on the application and choose 'Options'.
      • Set the graphics preference to 'High performance'.

However, my two applications of interest are Chrome and Google Drive which are in Efficiency Mode as indicated by the Task Manager. I performed the graphics settings verification with Chrome.

The Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerThrottling was not there by default.

I added the Key, and a DWORD PowerThrottlingOff, and set the value to 1. The machine was rebooted.

It did NOT turn off Efficiency Mode for these Apps or Processes as suggested, via process inspection in the Task Manager.

This calls into question the accuracy of this reply from a "Specialist".

    Regards

    Hi Martin,

After a recent upgrade form Win 10, I am now on:

    Windows 11 Enterprise

    Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631

I experience a sluggish performance of some other apps comparing to Windows 10 and it seems to coincide with them being put in the efficiency mode (visible in Task Manager)

Registry does not have PowerThrottling key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power

Should I add PowerThrottling key and then set PowerThrottlingOff DWORD?

Or, by now, is there a different location or a better way to disable efficiency mode , preferably for selected processes?

    Thanks

Are there any updates regarding this issue? It's incredible how half my days go by trying to turn off nonsense features on my device.
