    Hey Microsoft,

PLEASE can you let us all have the performance and stability we paid for when we bought our expensive computers desighned for processing huge amounts of data quickly.

PLEASE do not make this idiotic efficieny rubbish default - give us the options. Maybe per piece of software on install?

Three steps including delving into the registry to turn this off is not reasonable.

I've been regretting buying a huge expensive desktop for 18 months now (it was a big heavy brick for about 11 months) because it was unstable - part AMDs fault (Ryzen 7950X), part the ASUS motherboard (ProASrt X670), partly the Nvidia GPU (RTX 4090), and having got those sorted, finally, I find the the OS (Win11 Pro) is also throttling it. My 12 year old overclocked i7 2700K is way more reliable.

So, can you give us an easy way for us to disable this throttling please?

If my software worked on Apple hardware you'd have lost me, and a load of others. And I'm not a fan of Apple.

    I am running:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

    Version 10.0.22635 Build 22635

    I performed/verified the following:

    • Power Plan Settings:
      • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Power & battery'.
      • Under 'Power mode', make sure it's set to 'Best performance'.
    • Graphics Settings:
      • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Display' > 'Graphics'.
      • Browse for the AutoCAD Civil 3D executable or add it if it's not listed.
      • Once added, click on the application and choose 'Options'.
      • Set the graphics preference to 'High performance'.

However, my two applications of interest are Chrome and Google Drive which are in Efficiency Mode as indicated by the Task Manager. I performed the graphics settings verification with Chrome.

The Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerThrottling was not there by default.

I added the Key, and a DWORD PowerThrottlingOff, and set the value to 1. The machine was rebooted.

It did NOT turn off Efficiency Mode for these Apps or Processes as suggested, via process inspection in the Task Manager.

This calls into question the accuracy of this reply from a "Specialist".

    Regards

Perhaps if Microsoft would stop adding all of their bloat ware and useless services to Windows, we might not need their poor decision automations to remain "green" on the very expensive hardware that we've purchased. Would it be interesting to see if their are some first responder applications out there that are intentionally being downshifted to lower performance to support Microsoft's "green" enforcement? Can you imagine what happens if they detuned the PCs monitoring patients in a cardiac ICU somewhere?

Get this switched to a one button override and properly notify the public before you slip your agenda into the OS.

Efficiency mode is a bug, not a feature. It is trying to save battery power for a PC that is plugged in. I've wasted an entire morning of work trying to disable it, but it keeps coming back. It is a virus. You've ruined your own OS. My PC feels like we went back 20 years. Want to play a video in the background while you work? nope. you don't have the resources. need to save battery power.

Microsoft, this is awful. I do not want this. I want an OS that is stable and powerful and works.

I am done. I gave it three months and went back to macOS. I don't understand this obsession with recommendations and suggestions, and this force mentality is out of control. You don't want it? Who cares? You have to use it. I would love to see the decision-making process here, but when I watched this last copilot promotion video, it all kind of made sense.

Start button personalization is so funny, Recoommendations, MOOOOrree recommendation, More Pins...

Who comes up with this stuff, why can't I just put what I want, nooooo recommendation jezz
