Easy Anti-Cheat Driver Incompatible with Kernel-Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection

It’s a well-known issue that’s been around for years—Easy Anti-Cheat, developed by Epic Games and required for many online games, prevents Kernel-Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection from being enabled.

I’m left with two options: either uninstall Easy Anti-Cheat, which means I can’t play several online games, or keep Kernel-Mode protection disabled, which isn't ideal.

Is there any solution to this problem after all these years?

Many players have already reported it, but can you let me know the best contacts or channels to report this issue again? It’s becoming frustrating.

    Security features are SUPPOSED to break applications that violate local system security. And the way kernel-level anticheat works? VERY MUCH a security risk.

    Microsoft is (surprisingly) doing good here. Playing a game isn't worth the security risks. It's Epic, Xigncode, etc. that need to do better. Kernel anticheat isn't the solution.

    For the past few months I have noticed an increasing number of games that are affected by Kernel-Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection not being compatible with EAC. These games include the Master Chief Collection, War Thunder, Meet Your Maker, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Interestingly, Epic games like Fortnite run fine. This morning I turned off Kernel-Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection and The MCC was able to launch, and War thunder went from "EAC not installed" to "The game can't launch because EAC can't start"

    So there has to be some collaboration with Epic and Microsoft to resolve this issue. Or epic can come up with an anti-cheat that doesn't need kernel-level access, which would be ideal.

    Hello, unfortunately, this issue is beyond my control. Microsoft and Epic Games need to collaborate to address the compatibility problems between Windows and their anti-cheat systems.

    Hi ,

    I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

    It already has updated Easy Cheat drivers and is compatible with Hardware Stack Kernel Protection.

    I had a similar problem at the time of the Fortnite Reload update.

    How did you solve first uninstall fortnite and epic games using revo uninstall open the prompt on commando (admin) and run: sfc /scannow , wait for the process to finish restart the computer

    Enables hardware stack kernel protection.

    Then reinstall Epic games and the online games you use so you will install the latest version.

    Remember, there are EAS incompatibility issues with 24h2, so I recommend not updating until this is resolved for Intel Alder Lakes processors.
