Microsoft removing core functionality from Teams

Microsoft has made the ill-advised decision to remove functionality from licensed users, such as those using M365 Business Premium. A license which carries the same base cost as the O365 E3 license referenced in the article.

How is the O365BusinessRetail package (included in M365 BP) fundamentally different from the O365ProPlusRetail package, to the point that you would revoke the "Open in Desktop App" functionality?

As a reminder, M365 BP includes other enterprise features such as "ENTERPRISE Mobility + Security", Azure AD Premium Plan 1 (for syncing to your on-prem AD), and EDR with Defender through a centralized console.

I find it mystifying that Microsoft would expect a 300 person organization (Business license limit) to heavily invest in Teams collaboration and then remove the ability to use Teams with desktop apps in an interactive, live edit mode. Web Excel forced through the Teams interface is insufficient for that size organization.

We request you consider sending your feedback to Teams Feedback Portalwhere other customers have requested the same feature, you can add your comments and vote for this feature to let the related team know about your requirement. This is the best platform to let related team hear from you and make the products and services better for you and others.
