We have a created a "Team" in MS Teams with numerous channels (using both posts and files). But when I (or my colleagues) update posts in channels, not all users see the updates. We have tried re-starting MS Teams, and re-starting laptops.

    Hello Sarah Rathmell,

    Many thanks for the response.

I'm sorry to hear that the previous steps did not resolve the issue. In this case, I would suggest trying to clear the Teams cache completely. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Close the Teams app completely > Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box > Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and press Enter > Delete the entire contents of the folder that opens.
    2. Press the Windows key + R again and type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Teams and press Enter > Delete the entire contents of the folder that opens.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Launch Teams again and check if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Teams app. Let me know if this helps or if you have any further questions.

    Thank you for these instructions.

Unfortunately, I have still not resolved the issue with the Classic Teams user.

Note that we had a couple of slightly different folder names and file names, so I wasn't sure exactly what to keep. Specifically,

    • we didn't have 'Local Cache' but did have both 'Local Storage' and 'Code Cache' (we kept both)
    • we also had a 'Settings.json' file and a 'Settings.json_new_' file (we kept both)

We also deleted everything from the trash and did a computer re-start before launching Teams again. But no change - we can still see posts that should have been deleted and posts that have been edited but are still showing the old information.

Note also that this user sees the correct information using a web browser and office.com. So, the incorrect information only shows in the Teams Classic app.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks :)

    Hello Sarah Rathmell,

    Many thanks for the response.

I'm glad to hear that clearing the cache in the new Teams app resolved the issue for you. However, clearing the cache in the Classic Teams app is a bit different.

Here are the steps to clear the cache in Classic Teams:

    1. Close the Teams app completely.
    2. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    3. Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams in the Run dialog box and press Enter.
    4. This will open the Teams folder. Delete all the files and folders in this folder except for the following:
      - LocalCache folder

      - IndexedDB folder

      - Blob\_storage folder

      - GPUCache folder

      - Cache folder

      - Settings.json file

    5. Once you have deleted the files and folders, restart the Teams app and check if the issue is resolved.

Please note that clearing the cache in Classic Teams may log you out of the app, so you will need to log back in after clearing the cache. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

If our information was helpful, we also invite you to vote the reply so that others may find it easier. Thank you for your time and wish you a nice day.

Thank you so much for this response!

I have worked through all of your suggestions for myself and one of the other users who is having this problem. But everything was fine with those 4 things.

One question - Someone suggested to me that I may need to clear the cache in the Teams app. I did this for myself in the new Teams app following these instructions and it cleared the problems I was facing with still seeing deleted channels. But another user is using Classic Teams and we can't seem to use these instructions to clear the cache.

Clear Teams cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

Once we've entered the path in the "Run" dialogue box, we see loads of folders but it is not at all obvious what should be deleted.

I'm wondering whether you can help with that please!

    Thanks, Sarah :)

    Dear Sarah Rathmell,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with channels not updating for all users. To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    1. Check if the users who are not seeing the updates have the appropriate permissions to access the channels. Make sure they are added as members to the team and have access to the channels.
    2. Check if the users who are not seeing the updates have the latest version of Microsoft Teams installed. If not, please ask them to update to the latest version.
    3. Check if the users who are not seeing the updates have enabled notifications for the channels. If not, please ask them to enable notifications for the channels.
    4. Check if the users who are not seeing the updates have disabled the automatic updates for Microsoft Teams. If so, please ask them to enable automatic updates.

If the issue persists after trying the above steps, please let me know and we can further investigate the issue. Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue right away. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution. Thank you for your help.
