Multiple Rounds of Breakouts in Microsoft Teams with Pre-Assigned Participants?

Hello! I have an upcoming executive meeting for 60 people and there will be two different discussion topics (one right after the other). Each discssion topic will have a breakout activity with 8-10 breakout rooms using Microsoft Teams. Based on what I have read I can preassign participants if there is ONE breakout activity during a meeting, but is there an option to add ANOTHER breakout activity to the same meeting and pre-assign the participants to the second Breakout Activity?

Here is a mock example to help explain what I am looking for: (2 Breakout activities in the same Teams meeting, both breakout activities have pre-assigned participants)

Monday, January 10, 2025:

1:00 - 1:30 pm Breakout Session #1: Brainstorm Ideas for Company Holiday Party

  • Breakout Room 1: Sam, Jane (Participants are pre-assigned in Teams before meeting)
  • Breakout Room 2: Edward, Michelle (Participants are pre-assigned in Teams before meeting)

1:30 - 2:00 pm Breakout Session #2: Brainstorm New Product Ideas

  • Breakout Room 1: Sam, Edward, (Participants are pre-assigned in Teams before meeting)
  • Breakout Room 2: Jane, Michelle (Participants are pre-assigned in Teams before meeting)

    Dear Rhia Newton (RAPP),

    Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out to this community.

Based on your description, I understand your query about multiple rounds of breakouts in Microsoft Teams with pre-assigned participants.

Upon investigation and tests on my end, there seems no built-in options to add another breakout activity to the same meeting and pre-assign the participants to the second Breakout Activity. According to Use breakout rooms in Microsoft Teams meetings - Microsoft Support, as a workaround, you can delete all the breakout rooms, create new ones, and reassign participants to them during a meeting.

    1. In the meeting controls, select Rooms.
    2. Select Remove rooms and confirm the decision.
    3. Create new breakout rooms.
    4. Assign people to the new breakout rooms.

We do understand your concern about this feature as it helps you to keep meetings well-organized and improve efficiency in such daily busy work schedule but as it is related with Teams product design, so it is strongly recommended to submit your valuable feedback directly to Microsoft product development team by either going to Help from your dedicated App > submit Feedback or by posting on Ideas · Community (microsoft.com) for feature requests.

Hello, I have the same need. I have 2 rounds of breakout rooms with different number of breakout rooms and a different arrangement of participants. Deleting the first round of rooms, creating new ones and assigning will take valuable time of my meeting. Ideally, I could have both rounds planned and pre-assigned before my meeting.
