Opening .ics file from local drive causes security notice?

We have been using ics file for years to allow users to download ics file and save to calendar. Download and save still works fine, but opening from saved location triggers Outllook/Office securty dialog box stating the the location may be unsafe. Continue, Yes/No choice included. This stops thousands of our Enterprise users from adding to calendar in the usual way. Various PC's tested, but does not seem to be an issue and the handful of MACS in the company of approximatelym130,000 employees. This was fine four days ago but just popped up yesterday - 1/5/2024.

    Hi Inema,

We have the same problem and have invitations that were supposed to go out to 140 000 people today. Had to postpone it now but really have to get it out.

When do you think that you will have the problem solved? How big is the issue?

We will also be meeting with our IT team to review this issue, but I am lookimg for a resolution or work-around ASAP.

We operate via Exchange. I beilieve we are operate pure cloud.

Please Note that this issue is not related to security while downloading. It happens when trying to open the file from a locally saved .ics file. My last test was creating an appointment invitation fin my desktop version of classic Outlook and saving it as .ics on my local drive. I've tried both a OneDrive sychronized location and a non-synchronized OneDrive location location wtith the same results. The security message declares that the path to my drive may be an unsafe location.

Can also confirm this is happening to some users in my company, same as the screen shots. We use the latest Office versions via Azure setup.

I'm going to jump in on this, as this just happened today. On Prem Exchange - Microsoft 365 Apps for Business. Exchange Account. Same as screen shot above, except for me, Outlook (that comes from Microsoft 365 Apps for Business which is NEITHER of the Outlook apps asked for above), froze up completely, then added the event 3x to my calendar.

For 2 weeks we have had nothing but problems from the Outlook that comes with Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, and are planning migration away from Microsoft Office completely. There is no reason that the apps should be crashing like this with on-prem servers for emails that aren't the least bit different than they have been the last 20 years.
