On March 14, 2023 Windows updated 11 verison 21 H2 all editions. I had significant issues after that update but most importantly I couldn't access Outlook. I utilize Outlook through Microsoft 365 not with an outlook address but through an earthlink account. I worked with the Microsoft technicians over the months to address the issues and finally I could access outlook and could view and download my emails related to my earthlink pst account but could not send an email from that address.

Now as of today the file is corrupted and I can't access it at all. I have tried the Microsoft tool and the scan pst tools and neither of them work. what are my options? This is a business email account which I desperately need access and I need resolution asap. Please advise

Had recent upgrade to computer (hard drive issues). In outlook I now have 2 files, one under my correct e-mall address & a 2nd one that is similar but not correct. My service provider TPG has advised to contact M/Soft Support & arrange to have the 2nd profile removed as it is corrupting my e-mails. I am unable to receive or send e-mails

    Hi Debra Ashley,

    Good day.

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

I apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with the previous generic responses. Let’s address your situation specifically.

Given that your .pst file is supported by an EarthLink server, and you’ve already attempted the SCANPST.EXE repair tool without success, I recommend trying the following steps tailored to your scenario:

    1. Backup Your Existing .pst File: Before proceeding with any repair attempts, create a backup of your existing .pst file. This ensures that you have a copy in case anything goes wrong during the repair process.
    2. Manual Repair Using SCANPST.EXE: Since you’ve already tried this tool, let’s give it another shot with some additional steps:
      • Close Outlook completely.
      • Browse to the location of your .pst file. The path may vary based on your Outlook version:
        • Outlook 2019: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
        • Outlook 2016: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
      • Open SCANPST.EXE.
      • Select Browse to locate the .pst file you want to scan.
      • Click Start to begin the scan.
      • If errors are found, choose Repair to fix them. The tool will create a backup during the repair process.
      • You may need to run the tool several times to fully repair your Outlook Data File.
      • When complete, start Outlook with the profile associated with the repaired .pst file.

Contact EarthLink Support: Since your .pst file is associated with an EarthLink server, reach out to EarthLink support. They may have specific recommendations or tools to address issues related to their server setup.

I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions .

    Best Regards

    Hi Debra Ashley,

    Good day.

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

I understand how crucial it is to regain access to your business email account. Let’s troubleshoot the issue with your corrupted Outlook .pst file. Here are some steps you can take:

    Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE):

    • The Inbox Repair tool (SCANPST.EXE) is designed to diagnose and repair errors in your Outlook data file.
    • Exit Microsoft Outlook.
    • Open File Explorer and navigate to the appropriate folder based on your Outlook version:
      • For Outlook 2019: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
      • For Outlook 2016: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
      • For other versions, refer to the Microsoft Support article.
    • Double-click SCANPST.EXE.
    • Click Browse to select the corrupted Outlook Data File (.pst) you want to scan.
    • Choose Start to begin the scan.
    • If errors are found, select Repair to fix them.
    • Note: The scan creates a backup file during the repair process.
    • Run the tool several times if needed.
    • When complete, start Outlook with the profile associated with the repaired Outlook Data File.

    In-Place Archive (for Exchange accounts):

    • Move the corrupted PST file to your In-Place Archive folder. This may trigger an automatic repair attempt.

Remember to back up your existing Outlook data file before attempting any repairs. If none of these options work, I recommend reaching out toMicrosoft support to check from the backend side .

I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions .

    Best Regards
