When the iPhone user receives the invitation from the email (.ics data), it does not sync with the Office365 calendar.

Hi to the Community!

I have a sync issue between my iPhone (13 mini, iOS 17.4) and my O365 calendar (Microsoft E3 license).

In the iPhone native app I can see the .ics data, but I cannot add the invitation to my calendar. I can only download it on the mobile phone.

In the Outlook app I can see the data and add it to my calendar. I can see the calendar entry on the iPhone but it doesnt sync with my O365 account. It is not visible from OWA or on my local Outlook.

If I am adding the .ics data from my laptop (Outlook app) then it syncs perfectly with the iPhone.

Have you experienced this problem before and do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thank you in advance

    Dear Eleni,

Thank you very much for your help. I am not sure what exactly helped, but the problem was solved.

I did not try to remove the Outlook account from the iPhone and I assume that re-syncing the calendar helped.

    Hi AlexTheBad,

Good day.Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

It seems you’re encountering an issue with syncing .ics invitations between your iPhone and Office 365 calendar. Let’s troubleshoot this together. Here are some steps you can try:

Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your iPhone has a stable internet connection. Calendar events won’t sync if there’s no active connection.

Verify ActiveSync for User Account: Confirm that ActiveSync is enabled for your Office 365 user account. You can do this by:

    • Signing in to the Office 365 portal as an admin.
    • Clicking on “Admin” and then selecting “Exchange” to open the Exchange admin center.
    • In the left navigation pane, click on “Recipients,” and then choose “Mailboxes.”

    Re-Sync Calendar and Contacts:

    • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Calendar > Sync > All Events.
    • Then, go to Calendar again and tap on “Default Calendar.” Choose “Outlook” as the default calendar.
    • Using iTunes, sync your iPhone’s calendar to Outlook.

    Outlook App Troubleshooting:

    • Make sure you’re signed into the Outlook app on your iPhone.
    • Check if the Outlook app and iPhone Calendar are connected.
    • Try removing the Outlook account from the iPhone and then adding it back.

    Restart Sync Process:

    • Remove the Outlook account from your iPhone: Go to Settings > Calendars > Accounts. Select Outlook and delete the account.
    • Re-add the Outlook account and check if calendar events sync properly.

    Test Connection:

    • Open a website on your iPhone browser to verify that your internet connection is working.

Remember that syncing issues can sometimes be resolved by restarting your devices or reconfiguring the account settings.

If you’re still having trouble, you can try contacting Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn the support team will have access to assist remotely and collect logs to investigate the issue from the back end.

I look forward to your update. Please feel free to let me know how it goes or if I got you wrong. If you still have any concerns, please let me know so I can provide more suggestions.

Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day.

    Best Regards
