I have the same issue, one email was sent almost twenty-four hours after I originally sent it even though in my 'sent items,' it shows the original time of my sent email but the receiver didn't receive it until today. No, switching back to the old outlook doesn't work for me. I have cleared the cache and whatnot about fifty times since yesterday. This new outlook seems to have regressed to about twenty years ago. The above solution just doesn't work, I think Microsoft needs to either come up with better functions or give solutions that work.
Why does Outlook queue outgoing emails
I have moved from the old Outlook to the New Outlook. When I have written an email, it does not send. Instead it goes to my outbox and is shown as 'queued' for some time before it sent - even when the email is very short and there are no other emails waiting to go.

2024-11-23T15:48:36+00:00 I had this issue but did a test email to myself, and it both sent and remained in the Outbox as "Queued." However, when i clicked the Sync button in the ribbon of the Outbook, all of the Queued emails disappeared. It seems that you must manually sync to make the Outbox accurately reflect the status quo. So dumb. BTW I have yet to find a "sync all" button in New Outlook......

2024-11-30T03:10:29+00:00 I strongly suspect Microsoft are making it just that bit more difficult to use other email accounts other than Outlook just so you get the 'Jimmy Britts' & just go all Microsoft. Why would you remove functions such as selecting junk mail, receiving annoying advert mail & not being able to customise how your Outlook looks & there are others, if you give a toss about your customers.

2025-01-24T20:05:53+00:00 Sadly, there hasn't been a solution because Microsoft doesn't care. I have tried syncing as per Dan Hollander's suggestion but I must do that manually every 24 hours or so otherwise it doesn't work. Microsoft's 'suggestions' haven't worked for me. Try syncing and see if that works for you, hopefully, it does! This version is awful and stresses me out every time I send out an email.

2025-01-09T19:24:13+00:00 I had an issue where I sent a message and 5 days later I was wondering why I didn't get a reply and then I went and searched my sent message folder and found that it had been queued. For 5 days!
Every other message around it was fine. This was a simple text message with no formatting, attachments, etc.
Really, if you can't send the message, you've got to surface the error to the user a lot sooner, and make it more obvious. These shadow fails are incredibly frustrating.
