Outlook for Android stopped syncing Nov 13th - but I still get notifications for new mail!

Hi,

I have Outlook for Android on my Pixel 8 Pro and on a Samsung Android tablet, as well as Outlook desktop app (Microsoft 365 for Business) on my work PC.

Outlook on the Samsung tablet and the PC works fine.

Outlook on the Pixel stopped working at the same time as the last Outlook app update, on Nov 13.

I have no calendar, no emails on the phone since Nov 13, and I've also lost all my Outlook contacts (I normally save new phone numbers to Outlook).

BUT, I still get notifications of new emails on the notifications bar. So it seems to be able to connect fine. It just can't download the actual emails / contacts / calendar any more.

I've cleared cache, changed the download settings, reset the account, done a manual refresh, deleted and reinstalled the widgets, and restarted the phone. I've done each of these several times.

Any help appreciated.

    Hi Steve-King,

    Good day.

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

It sounds frustrating to have your Outlook app not syncing properly on your Pixel 8 Pro, especially when it works fine on other devices. Since you’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional suggestions that might help resolve the issue:

Disable Battery Optimization: Sometimes, battery optimization settings can interfere with app performance. Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Battery and disable battery optimization for Outlook.

Check Data Usage Settings: Ensure that Outlook has permission to use mobile data. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Data usage and make sure Outlook is not restricted.

Clear Data: In addition to clearing the cache, try clearing the app data. Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Storage and select Clear Data. This will reset the app and might resolve any underlying issues.

**Reinstall the App:**Uninstall the Outlook app, restart your phone, and then reinstall the app from the Google Play Store.

Check Sync Settings: Open the Outlook app, go to Settings > Accounts, select your account, and ensure that Sync Email is enabled.

Update the App: Make sure your Outlook app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, updates include fixes for known issues.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be worth checking if there are any known bugs with the latest update or reaching out toMicrosoft Supportfor further assistance.

I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions .

    Best Regards

    Hi,

Thanks. I worked my way through that as far as 'clear data' which seems to have done it.

    Regards,

    Steve
