    Dear Atharva Deshpande,

    Thank you for your reply.

As of January 2025, the Quick Parts feature is not available in the new Outlook for Windows. Microsoft has acknowledged this and is actively developing the new Outlook experience. While specific timelines for reintroducing Quick Parts haven't been announced, Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback through the Microsoft Feedback Portal. This input helps prioritize feature development based on user demand.

Please note new Outlook is still in active development, with more features still in the works. To check for upcoming features you can check Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365.

In the meantime, if Quick Parts is essential to your workflow, you might consider continuing with the classic desktop version of Outlook, which Microsoft has committed to supporting until at least 2029. This ensures access to all current features, including Quick Parts, while the new Outlook continues to evolve.

Thank you for your time and understanding. For other questions, feel free to add your post to the Microsoft Community team.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Atharva Deshpande,

    Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, the steps suggested by Copilot to redirect Quick Parts to a new location via the UserTemplates registry key are incorrect specifically for Quick Parts. Here’s why:

    1. What the UserTemplates Registry Key Does:

    • The UserTemplates key in the Registry controls the location for Word templates (such as .dotx or .dotm files) but does not apply to Quick Parts in Outlook. Quick Parts specifically depend on the NormalEmail.dotm file in the %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates folder.
    • Outlook does not support changing the path for the NormalEmail.dotm file.

    2. Why the Steps Won't Work:

    • Modifying the UserTemplates key will only redirect Word's template location, not the storage or retrieval path for Quick Parts in Outlook.

Thank you for your time and understanding. If you have other questions, feel free to add your post to the Microsoft Community team.

    Dear Atharva Deshpande,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your post regarding "Can I point the Quick Parts to a custom location and fetch the quick parts from there?". Unfortunately, it seems that Outlook does not support custom paths for Quick Parts. Quick Parts in Outlook are designed to use the default template location, which is typically C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.

However, you can use Word's Quick Parts feature to create and manage your templates, and then save those templates to OneDrive. You can then access these templates from Word and copy the content into your Outlook emails.

We understand your concern about this feature and how it helps you improve your efficiency in a work schedule. As it is related to Outlook product design, submitting your valuable feedback directly to the Microsoft product development team is strongly recommended by either going to Help in the Outlook App > submit Feedback or posting on Outlook · Community (microsoft.com) for feature requests.

Kindly note that nobody here is the product developer/decision maker and has no control over the product. Everyone, including us as community moderators, can only assist you with the query for providing available solutions and the feature's availability status within our scope and capability.

To check more details about how to submit feedback, kindly refer to this article Learn about how to provide feedback to Microsoft - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Thank you for your time and understanding. For other questions, feel free to add your post to the Microsoft Community team.

I asked Copilot "Is it possible to change the location from which Outlook retrieves the Quick Parts file for display?”. It came up with the following steps:

Certainly! Here are the steps to change the location from which Outlook retrieves the Quick Parts file:

    1. Locate the Current Quick Parts File:
    2. The Quick Parts entries are stored in a file named NormalEmail.dotm.
    3. This file is typically located in the following folder: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates.
    4. Move the Quick Parts File:
    5. Copy the NormalEmail.dotm file from its current location to your desired new location.
    6. Modify the Registry:
    7. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    8. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office<version>\Outlook\Options\Mail.
    9. Right-click on the Mail key, select New > String Value, and name it UserTemplates.
    10. Double-click the UserTemplates entry and set its value to the path of the new location where you moved the NormalEmail.dotm file.
    11. Restart Outlook:
    12. Close and reopen Outlook to apply the changes.

By following these steps, Outlook should now retrieve the Quick Parts file from the new location you specified

I got this from co-pilot, will this work or are there any work arounds?
