Why is it so bad? the help pages never match what I see on screen. The buttons and options recommend simply don't exist. interacting with copilot or whatever it is for support is the 7th level of hell. Why is it so bad?
To remove this icon, you can right-click an empty space on your Windows taskbar at the bottom of your screen, open your Taskbar settings, and toggle the Copilot switch to the off position. If you prefer a more permanent administrative solution to prevent it from reappearing during future updates, you can use the Registry Editor. You will need to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot and create or modify a DWORD value named TurnOffWindowsCopilot, setting its data to 1. Restarting your computer or the Windows Explorer process will apply this change and permanently clear your screen of the overlay.
Héllo JayC,
I understand your frustration, but FYI, cloud administrative interfaces undergo continuous rolling updates through targeted release rings, meaning the menus you see often outpace published knowledge base articles. Additionally, outdated site data cached locally in paths like %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Cache can sometimes cause the web portal to render a mix of old and new interface elements, further contributing to missing buttons. This creates a jarring disconnect where automated systems guide you to options that simply no longer exist in the current build.
Instead of wrestling with the automated system, please tell me the exact administrative task you are trying to complete.
