When SQL server is upgraded or core is changed how can we generate a report that will reflect the changes so we know if we are within our Microsoft license? How does everyone manage licenses.

Hi @Avyayah ,

For example, if you upgrade SQL server 2017 Enterprise to SQL server 2019 Enterprise, you need to buy SQL server 2019 Enterprise license to upgrade the SQL server instance. As we are not license experts. For other detail question about SQL license, I suggest that you can consult professionals in this area. please call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Or you can go to Volume Licensing Service Center support. Please choose region/language and choose to call or have web. People there will help you more effectively.
Hope this could help you.

    within our Microsoft license?

You have SQL Server licenses only on paper, so there is nothing you could change on system side; you have to manually match it with your license papers.
