Hi,

I have a 2016 server that I don't think has been installing updates for a while. I tried installing the latest CU and SSU and both say that they are not applicable to this computer.

In total I tried:

  • kb4132216
  • 4485447
  • 4565912
  • 5017305
  • 5017396

All of them fail saying the aren't applicable. I don't know how long ago this machine was patched last as nothing shows up under the Update History. Are there specific older updates that I can try to apply manually to try to get this machine back up to current?

I also tried sfc scannow and a dism restorehealth but neither one helped. dism had errors telling me to specify a source even though I did.

Winver shows: 14393.3750 in case that helps.

Thanks!

You can also try a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of install media, but time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch fully, migrate roles over and move on.

Let's try an older SSU (7/2020)

Also try the manual steps here to see if it helps.

4565912 is also listed in the OP and has been tried.

I've also used the PSWindowsUpdate Reset-WUComponents command which does all the things listed in the manual steps you listed.

Tried them both again just now and still get Not Applicable. :(
