Hello,
We are currently having an issue with an RDS 2022 Server.
Users log into a blackscreen after reconnecting to a disconnected session.
You are unable to log these users off without terminating LogonUI.exe, additionally if a user is idle on the blackscreen you can manually terminate LogonUI.exe and the users remote session will load up like normal.
Any support would be appreciated.
Thanks

Same problem here, Running VX_Rail, server 2022 standard VM's, only started after the last set of windows updates. Surprise Surprise... I kill the Windows Log-on application process and then it slowly kills everything except the Client Server Runtime process. I can then login the user with a bit of stuffing around and waiting from the clients PC. Last updates : KB5022842, KB5022735, Microsoft Edge Stable Channel (Version 110.0.1587.57). Happens to random users each day, no rhyme or reason.
I have the same problem 2022 RDS, after weeks of work, got tired and downgraded to a 2019 server for now (works perfectly)... Microsoft need to get their s*** toguether.
Same problem here with fresh 2022 servers. Does anyone use some kind of 2FA software to login?
Hello All,
I had LogonUI.exe problems with my deployment of RDS server on Win2022. Basically if I've checked Even Viewer I could see errors where after user logged off and tried to reconnect then LogonUI would hang/crash. I've tested a lot of different options and tweaks, to no avail. Finally I started to take a closer look to LogonUI itself and found a correlation between LogonUI and transparency effects (User Desktop -> Personalize -> Colors).
When configuring transparency effects for the first time I turned them off for better remote desktop performance, as anyone usually does. What I've observed is when I turned them back on the LogonUI stopped hanging/crashing and functions depending on it started to work as they should once again. I had no errors in Event Viewer and users could login and logoff without any weird behawior.
You could give it a try - it's a 5 sec check, but maybe it will help you as well.
Best regards
Piotr
