hi all

all local and cloud backup job fails on a mabs v3 serer with error :
dpm was unable to run a WMI query. The query returned an error or an empty result (ID 33507)

any idea about this error.

Thank you for asking this question on the **Microsoft Q&A Platform. **

The issue was caused by Trend Antivirus seemingly blocking the WMI filter which can be resolved by disabling the filter, this may require you to go into Safe Mode on the DPM server in order to add the required registry key.

Navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TmFilter\Parameters” using the Registry Editor.

Add a DWORD (32 Bit) called ‘BypassDPMfilter with a value of 1.

Restart the affected machine.

thanks for your suggestion, we 've kaspersky AV instead of Trendmicro but i'll give it a try

disabling kaspersky (on both mabs server and protected server ) didn't help.

I would recommend removing Kaspersky and reboot the server to clear the Kaspersky filter driver from storage stack. Then retry. Also, make sure there is no so hard hardening on server by GPO's.

Disable Kaspersky is not the same as fully uninstall and reboot, there might be still services running preventing this. And after all this if still fails, make sure the ReFs volume is visible on MABS Console, on Disk Management and it's healthy and finally if can write something on the volume.

after uninstall kaspesky and reboot, backup jobs keep failing

there is no hardening by GPOs on the server

ReFS volume are ok on console and disk management (write test is ok)

yesterday i've opened a ticket with msft support, i'll update once the issue fixed

Hi AHMED

MSFT support asked me to make some exclusions on kaspersky, i told them that even uninstallation of kaspersky didn't help, they collected some logs, i'm waiting for their response.
so no progress :-(

Olá Carlos,

Tenho esse mesmo problema nos servidores de backup. Não é possível parar o serviço WMI com o agente do Workload Security instalado.

Depois que para manualmente o agente do Workload Security é possível reiniciar o serviço WMI.

Existe alguma exclusão que é possível adicionar nas listas de exclusões do antivírus?

Já agradeço sua atenção.

after 2 months investigation by MS support, they couldn't fix the problem and propose to uninstal - install mabs, so we decline the proposal and we recovered data and switched to veeam b&r.
