Dynamic Numbering for Invitation List

I have created my own invitation list for my wedding and have my guests listed in groups (i.e. one family would be group 1, another would be group 2, etc.). I would like to number the specific groups and be able to add/delete rows and the spreadsheet automate the new numbers for the guests as needed and cannot for the life of me find a formula that works for my spreadsheet. Any suggestions?

Numbering the Specific Groups: In cell C1, you can manually enter the heading "Group Number" to label your new column. In cell C2, enter the following formula to number the groups automatically:

**Adding/Deleting Rows:**
- Now, you can freely add or delete rows in your spreadsheet without worrying about renumbering.

   - The "Group Number" column (column C) will automatically adjust based on the groups in column A.
