Will VS and Maui ever live together?

As you can see in the attached screenshot VS thinks that the property was added while executing (wasn't). There are way too many things like this in VS. We are told that Maui allows faster executions (doesn't). The Init of Hot Reload sometimes takes several minutes and even then doesn't work well. Some times I just get the msg that this project will not work with Hot Reload (although the last execution did have it).

I now spend more time trying to get around VS than using VS. If I wanted to I could more than likely post a scary amount of things just like that if were part of the VS QA team.

Yet another one

The thing about this one is that you can see I am not executing but VS editor thinks I am.

I would really like to talk with someone at MS as to whether there is any effort into making VS work?

You added properties with background C# code to your Model or ViewModel. But you get ENC0100:Adding property requires restarting the application/ from VS, Hot Reload should be working with background C# code, am I right?

If so, please see this document: XAML Hot Reload for .NET MAUI - .NET MAUI | Microsoft Learn, XAML Hot reload is working for XAML code. Add background C# code at runtime is out of scope for XAML Hot reload.

.NET Multi-platform App UI (.NET MAUI) XAML Hot Reload is a Visual Studio feature that enables you to view the result of XAML changes in your running app, without having to rebuild your project.

Yes I added code while executing. I do that as I have all the data available to me so I can write the correct code. I of course can not execute this as it needs to be rebuilt. So I stop the app and rebuild and execute. This is when I get the problem that somehow VS still thinks I made code changes during execution (I did but this is a new execution). As for a path to replicate this I cannot give one as sometimes this happens and sometimes not.

I have added a community ticket for this but it seems that when I add to community I am told to post to VS forum and visa versa. The problem is that no solutions are forthcoming.

At present VS and Maui cause me to spend more time debugging VS than learning Maui.

If you stop the debug, will you get this error as well? If so, that is unnormal, you can try to use the VS preview version.

This is a problem with Maui. When using Xamarin this error did not show but probably should have shown.

I am using 17.3.6 (latest version) and at least two versions back had this error. The big problem is that this does not happen all the time and that is the biggest problem I am having with VS and Maui.

I get things like start up VS , execute my Maui app and it does not start with some error that makes no sense (I don't copy them) , and when I do a second execution (no changes made) it will execute. I had to turn off add Using(s) as when I would copy paste it would paste a Using statement that would cause the build to fail. That is just one other thing that makes VS and Maui seem like they don't want to work together.

Add this to the couple of mins it takes to handle Hot Reload which very often does nothing and this is the worst VS since the start and I have been using VS since the start.

I noticed the prior thread that you posted. You installed the third-party plugin; you can create a new project with Maui native controls. Is that working?
