MS Edge Kiosk Mode

Question

I am trying to run Microsoft Edge (Latest version as of today) in kiosk mode using this line,

msedge.exe -kiosk website --edge-kiosk-type=fullscreen

When I do this, I get this error at the top,

To open this page in Internet Explorer mode, reinstall Microsoft Edge with administrator privileges

I'm running this on Windows 10, x64 Enterprise 21H2

This is a newly imaged machine, Edge was already in the image under Program Files, not installed as a user

I have re-installed Edge as administrator

I have deleted the user profile, which fixed this issue temporarily, but it came back.

If I login as another user it works fine

This seems to be profile related but I can't figure out why the issue comes back after deleting the profile

Do you want to launch the website in IE mode? Will it open in IE mode successfully if you open the site in non-kiosk mode? Will it show the error in non-kiosk mode?

From this doc, the issue might be caused by lacking required Windows Updates. You can install all the latest Windows Updates and refer to the Prerequisites to install the required Windows Updates.

Besides, you can check if you have enabled IE11 successfully in Windows Features. If you have enabled, you can also try to reinstall IE11 in Windows Features.
