SQL Server 2019 compatibillity with TLS 1.3

I have enabled TLS 1.3 on an environment with Windows Server 2022 and SQL Server 2019. However, when I try to start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service, I get the following error
(please, note that {environment_name} is a placeholder for the name of the environment, as I do not wish to reveal it):

Windows could not start SQL Server on {environment name}. For more information, review the System Event Log.
If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5023.

The service seem to run fine with TLS 1.2 and the same credentials. So my question is - is TLS 1.3 supported for SQL Server 2019 (as this is the only change I have made on the environment between the working condition of the service and the non-working one)?

    Hi @Georgi Ivanov

It does currently not support, SQL 2019 supports up to TLS1.2, but support for TLS 1.3 is already on the roadmap, from this doc: TDS 8.0 and TLS 1.3 support

SQL Server 2022 (16.x) Preview supports Tabular Data Stream (TDS) 8.0, and Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 when TDS 8.0 is used.

No, I don't think SQL 2019 supports TLS 1.3. I believe SQL 2022, which should be released before the end of the year, supports TLS 1.3.
