Why does the error_id differ between two DMVs when using Synapse Analytics?

If a query on a dedicated SQL pool (Synapse Analytics) encounters an error, an error_id is shown in the DMV 'sys.dm_pdw_request_steps'.
According to the documentation this should be the key attribute for the DMV 'sys.dm_pdw_errors', but there was no match for any error I encountered between those two DMVs.
It is not to big of an issue since you can match via session_id or request_id, but I am wondering whether this is working as intended.
