I am trying to install WSL distro on my laptop. It is new with windows 11. But I am constantly getting the following error:
"A connection with the server could not be established"
Even when I tried to clone a git repository, I got the same error.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Edit: I am doing wsl --list --online

Tryna install wsl by wsl -- install command in powershell in my windows 11 pc and same's happening with me too. As i read below you figured out the issue can you please share what did you do to resolve it! -

You can find these features in TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON OR OFF which is present in control pannel under PROGRAMS
you may have to restart your pc couple of times

ChiragC 10 Reputation points2023-10-03T05:34:17.79+00:00 No need to change the operator. Just change the DNS servers to Google Public DNS IPv4 (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220). Restart the machine and wsl should work.

try installing the Linux kernel update package and see if that helps. Download the Linux kernel update package https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-manual#step-4---download-the-linux-kernel-update-package
Please make sure that virtualization is enabled inside your computer's BIOS. The instructions on how to do this will vary from computer to computer, and will most likely be under CPU-related options.

2022-12-02T13:56:26.84+00:00 I think I figured out my issue. It's not an OS or wsl problem. I cannot connect to the GitHub server, i.e.,
ping github.comis resulting in a timeout, which is also happening on my other laptop.
I tried with a different internet connection but same issue.But I guess I can close this post now.

Actually i was also trying to install wsl on my brand new windows 11 laptop using the wsl --install command in powershell and it just says the same thing. Tried many things but to no avail. Help please! -
