SQL Server does not support the ARM chip, but I seem to recall a thread more than a year ago where someone was able to get it to work.

I tried google for it, and I did find https://database.guide/how-to-install-sql-server-on-an-m1-mac-arm64/, but this one suggests Azure SQL Edge, which is slightly different. But it may be as good as it can get.

    Hi @Tuấn Anh Phạm

From the official doc, SQL Server does not support on the ARM architecture, one choice is to install SQL Server on a Mac using the SLQ Server for Linux Docker image

from this thread, someone also finds SQL 2012 and 2014 x32 can work fine, hope it can give you some help

Here's an option if you want to avoid purchasing and installing Parallels: https://dev.to/srburnham/forget-azure-sql-edge-on-a-m1-mac-run-full-blown-sql-server-linux-instead-a-how-to-6d2
