Error when changing a domain from Authoritative to Internal Relay

I need to change a domain name from Authoritative to Internal relay so a catch-all can be set up.
When I make the change and save it, i'm getting a "Failed to update the accepted domain" error, along with "Error executing cmdlet" which doesn't give me much to go on. Google didn't really help either.
Any pointers on where to look would be great. There's two domains currently, one that is default. The default one is the one needing to change, but i've tried the other just in case, same error

Hi @Dave Wakelin ,

Glad to know that the domain type can be changed with PowerShell.
Can you change the domain now through the EAC?
With my tests, currently I can change the default or other accepted domains from Authoritative to Internal Relay in the EAC.

Same Problem here still persisting as of January 12th 2023

Using EAC trying to switch accepted domain from authorative to interanl realy results in "eror executing cmdlet"

I also have the same issue.

I see previous comments advising to use PowerShell to do the change, but I was unable to load the required PowerShell modules to connect to EAC and try to ran the domain change from there :-(

Try this:

open powershell as administrator

Install-Module -Name ExchangeOnlineManagement

restart powershell console as administrator

Import-Module ExchangeOnlineManagement

create a string: $UserCredentials = Get-Credentials (enter the EAC Admin login credentials in the new window that pops up)

> Connect-ExchangeOnline -Credential $UserCredentials -ShowProgress $true

Check the AcceptedDomain Status with > Get-AcceptedDoman -Identity yourdomainname.com

Change the DomainType to InternalRelay with > Set-AcceptedDomain -Identity yourdomainname.com -DomainType InternalRelay

Same issue here. Need to update this (and not familiar with powershell. Going to try and figures that out).

Just got update from Microsoft support, this issue is fixed.

Tested in my tenant and it's working.
