I was able to run a full repair in Programs and Features without any failures during the installation. Now the suite is fully functional and updated. Created a restore point.
MS Office 2013 Professional will not update after installation
I have Windows 10 Professional 64 bit as my OS and purchased MS Office 2013 Professional 64 bit on a CD in 2014. It worked OK until recently when I could not open Word except as an administrator. I deleted the Office suite and reinstalled the 64 bit version via the CD. The basic version is 15.0.4433.1508 and should update automatically. Since it didn't update, I downloaded the most recent update version 15.0.5511.1000 and tried to install it. I received a message "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system. Also, when I run the compatibility troubleshooter on winword.exe, Word starts to run and then the message "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" When I hit the repair now button, I get the message "Something went wrong. All the rest of the apps in the suite open normally, but are affected by the lack of updates.

Please go to Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application, check whether there is any record of your issue.
If yes, please share us the error details.Besides, as DillonJS suggested, please make sure your firewall does not block Microsoft URLs.
I suggest you try to use ODT to install the latest version to have a check. But you need to uninstall previous Office first.
- Please download the ODT and extract files.
- Prepare the configuration file like following. And put this xml file in the same folder with ODT's setup.exe. <Configuration> <Add OfficeClientEdition="64" >
<Product ID="ProfessionalRetail">
<Language ID="en-us" />
</Product>
</Add> </Configuration>
- Then run Command Prompt with administrator, enter following command to install Office 2013, which will be the latest version by deafult.
cd <ODT folder path>
setup.exe /configure <.xml file name>
- Open Office applications to have a check.
If you can open them successfully, please go to File > Account > Office Updates, click Update Now, check whether there is any prompt.

Thanks for sharing the update here.
By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.", and according to the scenario introduced here: Answering your own questions on Microsoft Q&A, I would make a brief summary of this thread:
Issue Symptom:
MS Office 2013 Professional will not update after installation.- Install most recent update version 15.0.5511.1000 and can not open Office apps, the error message is "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system".
- Run the compatibility troubleshooter on winword.exe, Word starts to run and then the message "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?". Even click “Repair Now" button, the error message is "Something went wrong. All the rest of the apps in the suite open normally, but are affected by the lack of updates."
Issue Resloution <From RobertLee-8377>:
