I work on a project to transfer a couple of large tables (with approx 50 GB, 50 mil records each) from Oracle to Synapse. the tables contain multiple calculated columns, which I know are not supported in Synapse.

Wondering if I should be using a view.

Can you please share any link or relate to your experience.

Much appreciated your input.

Thank you,

    Hello @HSever ,
Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.
As we understand the ask here is how to copy a table from Oracle to Synapse (Dedicated pool with calculated columns , please do let us know if its not accurate.
I see that you mentioned "Table" if the table has already the persisited calculated column , then its is just liked any other columns otherwise you will have to use views .
Also since here we are talking about lot of data , I will request you to pay special attention to data distribution in Synapase . Please read more on the same . https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/synapse-analytics/sql-data-warehouse/sql-data-warehouse-tables-distribute

Please do let me if you have any queries.
    Thanks
    Himanshu
