How to fix ODBC error 772 windows 11 22H2

ODBC connection with sql server 2005 (compatible 2000) failed after november update.
January update didn't fix the problem.
Already tried with installing newer version of the ODBC driver, but this didn't work.
Anyone any other idea ?

2023-01-13T11:18:01.5866667+00:00 Protocols were already added in the register, but this didn't fix the problem.
Changing the SQL driver to version 13,17 or 18 didn't help either.

Some say to put it under as subkey to TLS 1.0 in the client key. Others say (as bobcares) to just put the enabled flag in the TLS 1.0 area. I have tried both ways and still not working.

Changing to a newer driver is not possible, because than I get the error : sql executed without cursor.
We have a very old ERP so we need to get it running again.

Erland Sommarskog 122K Reputation points MVP Volunteer Moderator2023-03-22T21:15:33.64+00:00 The curse of running old and outdate software. Often you can get away with it for a long time, but one day it breaks. And then you regret that you did not move on earlier.
If there is a vendor for the ERP system, you should talk with them about the "sql executed without cursor". Although, I guess they will tell you to update to their latest version.
You could try some of the intermediate ODBC driver, for instance the SQL Native Client that shipped with SQL 2005. Although getting hold of it can be difficult.
Or create a VM with an older Operating System like Windows 7 and the ERP system from that VM.

Is anyone seeing this issue again on Windows 10 workstations that received kb5029716 kb5029244 around 9/18/23. Looks like MS may have killed TLS 1.0 no matter what settings you try. I'm connecting to MSSQL2000.
