Office Professional 2019 ProPlus Powerpoint and PowerBI add-in compatibility?

I'm working with a financial consultant to provide some financial dashboards to staff in my company - they have at some stage decided to use PowerBI to extract the information they want and publish it on a dashboard in a Powerpoint presentation.

We are currently on Office ProPlus 2019 1808 16.0.10394.20022 ClicktoRun

When the presentation is opened on desktop using our Office 2019 all we see is the white box where the data "should" be, but if I open the same document in Powerpoint Web, it seems to work as expected.

I have tried disabling any group policies which may have blocked the add-ins and it doesnt appear to have made any difference.

Any ideas as to where I should look next would be really appreciated.

    As the article said, Office 2019 cannot use Power BI add-in, you should use Office 2021 or later:

    • Office version
      • If you have a Microsoft 365 Office subscription: Build number 16.0.13530.20424 or later.
      • If you have a non-subscription version of Office: Office 2021 or later.
