Unregister and Delete MODERNIZED ASR DR appliance

Hi !!

I am using the MODRNIZED version of ASR appliance for DR of my on-premises VMWare virtual servers to Azure.

I need to remove (delete) and unregister from Azure the ASR Appliance, but no information about "how to" is available for MODERNIZED appliance.

Some suggestions?

Hi Julian - Can you look at the instructions again for where you registered your replication appliance on-prem here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/deploy-vmware-azure-replication-appliance-modernized

You will need to log on to that and look at unregistering it from your ASR.

Following up to see if this has been implemented? It keeps saying fqdn already exist, but we don't know what is running the check since the appliance was already deleted.

Product team confirmed that there isn't an option to remove the modern appliance at the moment and they are working on enabling this option.

In cases like this, customers delete the vault and complete resource group itself.

I have already open couple cases with Microsoft (One in August 2023, they said it would be the feature fixed by September 2023, then another follow-up ticket in Jan 2024, they said it will be implemented by April 2024). As of today, The feature for deletion is not there yet. I even tried to delete the entire vault and it will not allow me. Here is message:

Vault 'vault-name-xxxx' cannot be deleted as there are existing resources within the vault. Please delete any replicated items, registered servers, Hyper-V sites (Used for Site Recovery), policy associations for System Center VMM clouds (Used for Site Recovery), private endpoints and then delete the vault.

Hi, I am Rohan Sahini from the ASR Product team. We have released a feature to enable delete appliance (if appliance is unhealthy) and reset (if appliance is healthy).
