There is an issue on Teams where user name is showing as &nbsp: and then the last name.

There is an issue where if you @ [a user on our domain] in a Teams message, it displays as [user's name]. &nbsp:[users's lastname]. Is there a way to centrally fix this issue without going to each pc to delete the Teams cache folder? We are 100% azure domain.

Do you mean to change the Teams display name?

As I understand it, the source of the display name in Microsoft Teams should be the user's display name.

Please follow these steps to change: Log in to the admin center (https://portal.office.com/) > Admin> user> active user> the user in question> contact information> edit >Teams display name.

@SokiGuo-MSFT Thanks for your reply. My question more pointedly is, when a user's name is updated in the location you specified, how can we sync that to all user's local Team's cache centrally? FYI - All users are on Azure domain. I would hate to have to go to each user's pc and delete their Team's cache folder then restart Teams (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache). As of right now, when someone @this user in a Teams chat, it comes up as &nbsp[lastname]. Please let me know of you suggestions. Thanks.

@SokiGuo-MSFT Thanks for replying. The information in that location is correct. But the local Teams cache folder for users has stale info which causes the original problem. I need a way to update that folder as prescribed here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache . This is the fix but I need a way to do it centrally instead of going to each pc. Do you have a suggestion?

Hi @Robert Peeples

As far as I know, the automatic synchronization of information after changing the display name doesn't seem to cause caching issues.

For centralized management of clearing cache for multiple users, refer to: Clearing the Microsoft Teams Cache.
