I signed up with Azure many years ago to see what it was like. Were now more interested in this and when i log into my account it asks for a credit card for testing/developing and learning.

Is there anyway to avoid this as i wouldnt want to register a credit card for Dev purposes and dont mind getting a freebie version just to get more familiarity with Azure

Azure offer free credit to students and accept registration without credit card. For other sign up scenarios, including trial, you need to provide credit card. See the trial registration link below.

Once you sign up, you can use Azure budgets and cost alerts to ensure you get notifications before your free credit is completely consumed.

    Hope this helps
